This is an exotic fruit bearing cactus species. Not only is the fruit rather amazing to look at, it has a delicate sweet taste, and the flowers can also be used for making herbal tea…

Exotic is exactly my reaction. It’s a fascinating fruit and one that I hardly ever hear about its use. That first capture shows its eloquently edged designs and the other image shows us how its grown, which displays its unusual tropical foliage. Happy Photo Challenge.

Thanks… My reaction exactly when I spotted it and I really had no idea it was a fruit…

I have never seen these before, Lor!! Incredible sight!!! Your captures are really good. I like how you showed an individual plant and then how they actually grow. Thank you! Love, Amy ❤
Thanks, Amy… I had never seen them before, but when I did some research on them for the blog, I found out they were fruits… Very interesting…
They look like they might reach out and grab you if you come too close. 🙂 –Curt

Me either… In doing research I found it…
I’ve googled to fruit now just to make sure that I never had it, and I’d like some. Cool shots, especially the second. When does it give fruit?
Thanks. Paula, I really do not know because this is the frist time I see the plant myself. I just happened to find the name when I searched under cactus.
