Phone rings…

A reminder of days gone by…

Nostalgic thinking about you…

The phone call that never came…

Sat by the phone all day…

I knew you would not call…

But my heart would not comprehend…

You would not be back again…

Or call to explain why…

Still jump when I hear the phone ring…

I know it will never be you…

But my aching heart, “still” cannot comprehend…
