I find it so amazing…
How some of us can write a book…
The story of our lives or fiction…
Poetry or music…
I always wonder how and where it all comes from…
Is it the imagination…?
Or perhaps something deeper than that…
I never gave it much thought…
But I read so many wonderful stories…
And it always astonishes me how beautifully each are written…
Is it something that lays dormant ready to come out…?
I personally, see a word or phrase…
And before I even realize it a poem is formed…
I’ve tried writing other things, but I keep forming poetry…
What is your story…?
What inspires you to write…?
How does it all begin…?
Is it a thought, a word, or phrase…?
Do you go off to a quiet place to think…?
Do you brainstorm and think about what to write…?
Does it come from the heart…?
I would love to know what others do to write…
I never really thought about until now…

I was referring to the way the joy and craft of writing is dampened by the proliferation of standardized testing and writing formulas in the public schools, especially in the early grades. Nothing against real writing classes.

You’re probably right… I just wish I had more time to relearn all about grammar and writing… Never paid too much attention to the subject in school and now I need it…
