Road Trip…

Family road trip Sunday was pretty amazing…  I always complaint we travel in packs, but our road trips are far in between… And we always have a blast…  I think I complain because I’ve always lived far away from everyone and I’m not use to it, but in these couple of years interacting with the family, I’ve come to cherish those sweet moments we share…  I promise never to say a negative thing about it and enjoy the time we spend together…

I realized that my family is always there no matter what I do and how far down I go…  Friends come and go, but not my relatives…  They stick together like glue.  A bond that will never come apart…  I am grateful for my brother and his family, cousins, and my aunts and uncles…  I give thanks every day for the opportunity to connect with them…  I am lucky my mom and the rest of older clan are still around.

We were meeting at 7:00 am at Cracker Barrel for a huge breakfast to start our morning  trip on a full stomach…  I know!  All we think about when we plan a trip is eating.  We first talk about the restaurants we’re going to visit and then the sight-seeing…  I got there first and by the time my cousins got there, I had drunk about five good cups of coffee…  I needed it for the long haul ahead…

We had a terrific breakfast and drove the waiter crazy with requests coming from every direction… Hour-and-a-half later we’re finally on the road…  Cousin’s mother in-law now decides she wants water for the trip…  Another fifteen minutes lost…  On our way again and as we’re reaching Fort Myer’s my uncle’s hearing aid dies and we had to make a stop at a Walgreen’s for batteries…  The GPS wasn’t working properly and we kept driving around in circles.  What could have taken us three hours took us four…  But eventually we got there in one piece…

The Edison & Ford Museum has a lab, the estate, and lovely gardens…  We couldn’t have asked for a better day.  The weather was pleasant…  Not too cold and not too hot…   We were able to walk around at our leisure and relax in the gardens afterwards…  I began taking pictures and my camera went dead on the fourth pic…  Now, I have to rely on them to send me the pictures…  I probably will never see them…  Oh well…  At least, I was able to take four… Sorry!  I can’t show off the beautiful flowers and trees…  Maybe some time in the future when I receive the pics then I’ll post…

Since we were celebrating four birthdays, we had to eat again…  We chose P.F. Chang’s for our dinner…  They sat us in a huge round table with a Lazy Susan…  Bad idea..  That thing didn’t stop going round and round all night long…  It became our game… We asked for something and round it went…  But it was more fun to see the old fogies learning to use the chop sticks than playing with the Lazy Susan…  It was a sight to see…  Again, sorry no pics…

The drive home from Naples was treacherous…  Tired, sleepy, and driving on a full stomach was not fun…  Ask me if I would do it again…  Gladly…  Driving home alone after dropping off mom and the rest was worst than the rowdy four hours it took to get there…

Looking forward to our next road trip with my nutty family , but I’m the biggest nut of all…
