I’ve been reading a book by Louise L. Hays, “The Power is Within You” and what I realized as I read is that the power to change is truly within us. The problem is that we tend to give up too easily and revert to our old ways of thinking when the going gets tough. We also tend to get lazy. Changing takes perseverance and hard work and people do not want to invest the time and energy. It’s unfortunate though… How much easier life would be if we were free of unhappiness, disease, negativity, etc.
We have a choice… I’ve always spoken about being honest with one self. This holds true if we’re going to change our old habits. We have to ask ourselves what are we holding on to and what’s keeping us chained? Once we figure that out then we can begin the process of change…
Louise gives many examples of what keeps us stuck and once we understand the blocks then we can move on releasing all those issues. We also have to learn to love ourselves in order to attract love. She lists ten ways we can love ourselves. But that’s not all… We still have to follow through and apply the principles; otherwise, change will not take place…
When I was done reading the book, I sat and reflected… What I’m I doing wrong? Why do I continue to have issues? What am I not releasing? I decided to give myself my first huge goal/ disciple… I will be positive from now on, but I will work with a week at a time… Tiny steps… I don’t just want to say it, but I want to apply the principles I just learned and truly strive to be a good influence for myself and to others through my actions.
One great thing about meditation is that each day brings a new realization. How wonderful when you get glimpses of how beautiful life could be instead of how dreadful we make it out to be…
If anyone decides to buy the book and read it, let me know how it goes and what you thought about it?
