Trying to wrap things up for the Holiday’s, but things just keep popping up….
Last Thursday was our Christmas Pot Luck and grab bag at work and even though I could not bake or cook for it, it was still quite a lot of work. I made little bags full of candy for 40 something girls plus Christmas cards with candy canes for the guys. I had to wrap it up in just three days. I was coming home every evening and making bags… I think I was having nightmare with those bags… Got them done though…
Everyone at work asks why I do this, but there’s no special reason. I enjoy giving and this is my way of saying thank you… I get pleasure from it… I’ve done this every year for the last five and I don’t think I will ever stop… I enjoy searching throughout the year for that one small token to put in each bag… Everyone gets a little something which makes them happy and so am I…
This week, we’re having a bake sale at work and all proceeds are going to a co-worker’s daughter. This is the one I wrote about in November which got injured in a motorcycle accident… The flyer is going up today for tomorrow’s bake sale held in the lobby… I baked this morning and the macaroons came out delish… Hope we can bring in big bucks for her…
This weekend I plan to start my Christmas baking. I want to make my famous Guava Cheesecake, Date Cookies, and Chocolate Chip Coconut Macaroons… I’m so excited… Having Christmas Eve over my house and I wanted to buy Christmas plates for 14 people. After much thought, I decided against it. I just don’t have to room to store so many Christmas items… Besides, I will use it only once a year. It makes no sense… That’s settled… No additional plates…
We have a tradition in my house. We each sing a line out of a song. It has always been the Twelve Days of Christmas, but I think this year I’ll try something new… Perhaps, I’ll use Pa-rum-pa-pum-pum and make up something in between. We always get a good laugh out of the singing especially when you have a bunch of older people signing in a different language than theirs… It’s hilarious…
