Blessings to All…

I do little things on a daily basis in order to make my day and life more manageable and sometimes, bearable…  As I get in my car to start my day, I bless myself and the car and ask no harm come to either one of us on the drive to and from work.  I make sure I bless the crazy jerk’s on the road that cause accidents by zigzagging all over the place and bless everyone on the road that day.  I also stipulate that if I were to go on the HOV lane to please not let a police officer see me and give me a summons…  I bless my family, friends, and co-workers and those I come into contact that day…  It’s my little ritual daily.  I also make sure I wake-up my angles by calling on them a few times and asking them to please listen to my prayers…

When I’m feeling down and tired, I chant or sing.  I wonder what the drivers next to me might think since I’m driving along screaming of the top of my lungs…  Sometimes I sing Amazing Grace and other times I sing Let there be Peace on Earth, but whatever song comes to mind is good.  Other times I’m chanting away.  The chant I use is very simple, but most potent….  The chant gives me power to get through my stressful day or whatever is causing anxiety…  It is, “Nan-Myoho-Renge-Kyo.  It is a Nicherin Buddhist Mantra…  I heard about it the movie about Tina Turner’s life.  That is the mantra that gave her the courage to leave Ike…  But anything that can help is all good…. Doesn’t have to be a mantra…  Whatever work for you is good…

Here’s my simple version of the meaning of the mantra.  It is suppose to waken one’s Buddha’s nature which is to obtain perfect & complete awakening (enlightenment)…  I don’t practice it enough; therefore, I’m not nearly there yet…  I just use it to help me gain control of my life and keep on trotting…

I also go about my day trying not to judge.  I listen to people criticize others and make the most stupidest comments and I really try not to critique…  I laugh and may say something, but that is it…  We are all at different levels of existence and not all understand the power of their words.  It can sink and break someone, but we can try not to let those people/words affect us.  We can use our free will to let it rub right off and choose not to let it hurt us…  We do not want Karma (law of cause and effect) to build up and relieve the experience again.  Forgive the person and keep on going…  They don’t know any better….  It’s a shame people do not take responsibilities for their actions and love to pass the buck and blame others…   The best thing to do with ignorant people is to turn around and leave.  Just don’t get sucked into their drama…

My interpretation of Karma (Law of Cause and Effect) is very simple – What we sow, we reap…  If you go around kicking someone, eventually you will be kicked back…  Think before you act or speak…  Catch yourself and stop doing what causes harm to you and others.  Break free of old patterns and behaviors that don’t work and cause you grief.  Practice makes better… Think positive things and you will become positive…

Good luck my friend…  Remember!  We are only human and we make mistakes…  Forgive yourself and others and keep on going…
