Thanksgiving is not about buying gifts. Thank Goodness… But it’s a time for giving thanks and being grateful to be alive… How many people out there have lost their jobs, their lives, their significant other, or even their home… Let us appreciate all we have… And give to those less fortunate…
One thing we’ve been doing at work for Thanksgiving is making gift baskets for roughly forty families. Everyone from the company donates food items, utensils, serving sets, baking pans, Thanksgiving decorations, and $20 gift cards from a grocery store. Baskets are prepared using the pans and it comes out beautifully. We all feel fulfilled. We donated something special and the families get to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving too.
This year we had a co-worker diagnosed with breast cancer. She is out this holiday season due to her condition. We all chipped in and made her/family Thanksgiving dinner. They can enjoy each other’s company and not have to worry about the cooking…
It’s such a small token, but it is very rewarding. Our company is always collecting for one thing or the other and I’m so grateful to be able to partake in such great act of kindness… This is what Thanksgiving is all about…
