Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command.

Today, I would like to invite Dawn from The Day After (https://lingeringvisions.wordpress.com/) to join the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge.  If you have not seen his blog, please go and check the cool pictures and nice stories…

Here is the fifth and final story & photos…

Had a terrific time with this challenge… Hope everyone enjoyed my adventures.

This pier is at St Augustine beach… I kept photographing it from far away. One afternoon, we took a stroll up to the pier and got to see the action up close and personal including a sting ray being fished out of the sea. I wanted to run when I saw it moving all around… They tossed it back though…

The pigeons were just hanging waiting for an opportunity to snatch some food…

Here is my Forth story & photos…

I wanted to go on a road trip for a while and it never seemed to be a good time, but on New Year’s everyone was busy doing their own thing and so my mom and I decided to spend New Year’s in Destin, FL.

Wow! What a drive… Ten hours and Destin is still in Florida. Since we were already at the tip and close to Alabama, we drove into Alabama to see the Bellingarth Gardens and Home, but on the way back, we happen to come across the USS Alabama and we had to stop to see and read up on a little bit of our history…

USS Alabama (BB-60), a South Dakota-class battleship, was the sixth ship of the United States Navy named after the US state of Alabama. Alabama was commissioned in 1942 and served in World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. She was retired in 1962. In 1964, Alabama was taken to Mobile Bay and opened as a museum ship the following year. The ship was added to the National Historic Landmark registry in 1986.

Great sight to see…

Here is my third story & photos…

During Easter vacation in NJ, I kept passing an old cemetery along NJ Parkway and loved the old angel statues I saw from the road. I knew I had to stop and photograph a few.

One early rainy morning, I drove to the cemetery with my grandkids…  They weren’t thrilled about it, but if they wanted breakfast, they had to go with grandma.

During our lengthy drive there, I explained many things about angels and how they only protect and do not harm.  I also mentioned, ghosts were not going to jump from a grave like in the movies.  Movies are exaggerated and meant to scare people, but in reality, it is not like that.  They are smart and understood, but despite the conversation and explanation, they still kept calling me freaky…  I wonder why!!!

The air is still…

Silence from above…

Don’t be afraid…

Angels will not harm…

Here is my second story & photos…

There’s nothing like Easter with small children around. It makes the day more cheerful and fun… Before dinner we had an Easter egg hunt and the kids where running around looking for eggs all around the outside of the house… Of course, the adults didn’t help out…

Cameras were rolling…

Some of the older kids also participated, but were not thrilled at the idea  especially my eldest grandson…  Even though he considers himself too old for this kind of stuff, he still goes along with it…  Such a sport…

Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge (Day One): Fish Stuck

Here is my first photo & story…

I recently discovered a passion for bird watching and the good thing about living in South Florida is that there are many wetland and nature centers to visit. One of these places is close to my job and sometimes after work; I go for a walk on the man-made boardwalk. Some stretch for two to three miles and there are plenty of opportunities to see wild life and photograph them. The Green Cay is no exception…

After a long day’s work, it is nice to be in such peaceful surroundings… On my walk I encountered many ducks, birds, and even alligators, but on the end of this walk, an Inhinga bird was struggling trying to release a fish from its beak… I immensely enjoyed watching the way it tossed its head side to side and the fish would not come off. It wrestled for some time, but eventually jumped in the water and the fish finally slipped off… Was not about to lose yummy food.

There’s a calming effect when surrounded by nature…   It the simplest way to forget all problems and be at peace…
